Oh how I love you Hydrangeas

Oh how I love my hydrangeas, they are the pefect colour, very pale lilac/blue turning to 

a  stunning sagey green the longer they are in bloom.

Unfortunately the rain battered them so much that my gorgeous heady blooms were touching the floor and becoming  tea for two (million) slugs ... eurgh!

I always try to resist cutting them as this impairs the blossoms the following year, but I just had to take the bull by the horns, or the bloom by them stem and snip them off.

Means I'm not going to get as beautiful display next year, but they had become too top heavy and were just getting destroyed.

On the plus side it means I have hydrangeas in every single room of the house.

The Lavender Patch

The Lavender patch is one my favourite parts of  the garden, not only does is look beautiful, smell divine  more importantly the bees love it ...

Wild Life Friendly

We have always tried to make our garden as wildlife friendly has possible, planting plants that will attract pollinators, it's such a joy to see the bumble bees, honey bees, hoverflies, butterflies and moths flitting from plant to plant to drink the nectar.

Flowers attract insects by providing them with two rich sources of food - nectar and pollen. Nectar contains sugars and provides insects with an energy source, while pollen grains contain proteins and oils.

Bringing the outside in

Love this time of year because flowers in the garden are in abundance and means I can bring the outside in, fill the house with homegrown flowers, so satisfying and means there can be flowers in every room.
